Greenland is the world´s largest Iceland and a unique place of the contrasts and extremes of stunning nature that you will not experience elsewhere. This wonderful and beautiful country allows you to experience its gigantic icebergs, rugged cliffs, wildlife, northern lights, midnight sun, green fields, and even beautiful sandy beach and much more throughout the year.  This tour offers you amazing experiences of artic midnight adventures in Greenland from May- August.  

Day 1. Ilulissat

Departure by your flight itinerary from Copenhagen to Ilulissat via Kangerlussuag with a brief stop. It takes around 4 and a half hours by flight.

Welcome to Ilulissat, the city of icebergs and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon your arrival, your private driver will pick you up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. After check-in at your hotel, your local tour guide will meet you at the hotel and take you for a tour in the city of Ilulissat. The guide will introduce you to the unique history of the town Ilulissat and the Greenlandic culture and traditions. Visit the local fishermen at the harbor and hunters at the meat/fish market “Brættet” and further explore the next stop – the birthplace of the famous Danish polar explorer Kund Rasmussen. Continue the trip to the old wooden zion church. Return to the hotel where you will have a lovely welcome dinner in the hotels amazing restaurant. 

Day 2. EQI Glacier

Today is a big day. Take a boat trip to explore one of Greenland’s largest, active, and most beautiful glaciers, Eqi. Eqi is located on the island´s west coast, about 80 km north of Ilulissat. It is such an amazing and incredible experience to get very close to this glacier and experience huge pieces of ice breaking off. The sounds are enormous and the sight of the icebergs crashing into the water is astonishing. You will sail on a modern and comfortable boat at the excursion to Eqi Glacier. During the excursion, the boat lies approx. 2 hours in front of the glacier and wait for the ice to calve. The boat trip takes you north along the coast, the settlement of Rodebay and through the big fjord system, Pakitsog, where whales and seals are often seen. Lunch will be served on the boat, and you can continue to enjoy the ice calving. Further along the route, you will pass through the Ataa Strait, which is surrounded by steep mountains with birds and waterfalls. 

Day 3. Disko bay, UNESCO Ilulissat Icefjord

In the morning, you will be guided to hike to the ice fjord and the abandoned Semerminut settlement few kilometers from Ilulissat. 4000 years ago, the various Inuit cultures such as Saqqaq, Dorset and Thurle lived in the settlement, and today many visitors from all over the world visit this historic place with one the best views in the world. Sermerminut is an absolute must visit destination when you are in Ilulissat. Your tour guide introduces you to the stories about the lives and customs of Greenlanders before the arrival of Europeans. Furthermore, you will see ruins and feel the permafrost with your own hands. You will have a coffee or tea break at the viewpoint at “Kællingekløften” with a beautiful view over the Icefjord before you return to Ilulissat. After dinner, take a midnight sun boat trip to Disko Bay. Midnight sun in the summer in Greenland makes the icebergs glow in a unique play of colors. Every day more than 40 million tons of ice is flowing through the fjord and out into the nearby Disko Bay. The icebergs are so gigantic; they can be 60 meters high and 100 meters wide. A boat trip on a such bright night is truly an amazing and exceptional experience. 

Day 4. Whale safari

Today is another exciting day. Depart for a Whale Safari trip into Disko Bay where you can meet the amazing giants close up. There are 15 species of whales in Greenland. The whales, especially the humpback whales, swim in the entire Disko Bay during the summer. The whales like to spend their summer in Disko Bay, which is very rich in large quantities of krill and other small fish, which the whales mash. These amazing gigantic whales can get up to 15 feet long and weigh about 30 tons. Enjoy the sight of these gigantic, intelligent, and beautiful creatures and watch them play between the waves of the sea.   

Day 5. Settlement Ilimanaq

This morning, depart for a visit to the small Greenlandic settlement of Illimanaq, which is located approx. 15 km south of Ilulissat. Here you will have the opportunity to experience both impressive icebergs and the beautiful nature. When you arrive in Ilimanaq, start a guided tour of the settlement, where you will hear stories of the history of the area, the local life, traditions and more. Enjoy a delicious lunch with authentic Greenland specialties in a building from the 18th century. The restaurant is located beautifully and is probably one of the best places to eat your meal in Greenland. Return to Ilulissat and enjoy the rest of day at your leisure. 

Day 6. Ilulissat - Kangerlussuaq – Nuuk

After the breakfast, your driver will pick you up at your hotel, and transfer to the Airport. Take a flight trip to the capital city Nuuk.  It takes 2 hours – this flight trip allows you to enjoy the view of magnitude of Artic, magnificent icy landscape and the wilderness of Greenland. Welcome to Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland. Nuuk is a vibrant capital city of Greenland with around 18,500 inhabitants. It is located on the southwestern coast of Greenland. The city is surrounded by a beautiful Sermitsiaq mountain, and the fantastic fjord system reflects the wild nature. Upon your arrival in Nuuk, you will be picked up by your private driver and transfer to hotel. After check-in, your local guide will meet you at the hotel for a city tour in Nuuk. You will pass charming, colorful, wooden houses in the old town by the harbor and visit the Greenland National Museum with its famous mummies and the colonial babor. Continue to visit the modern award-winning, beautiful arts center Katauaq cathedral from 1849, the university of Greenland, and Greenland´s parliament in the middle of town. Next stop is the open-air market that sells newly caught fish, seal, and reindeer. Afterwards, your guide will escort you to the popular café Cafétuaq, where you will taste Greenlandic tapas with different kinds of dried fish and meat, scallops, fresh juicy shrimps, and other local quality dishes. 
You will certainly enjoy the tastes of Greenland.  

Day 7. Nuuk

In the morning, explore Nuuk city on your own. You can stroll through downtown and enjoy your free time visiting shops and stores which sell local arts and crafts, a wide selection of souvenirs and everything from small, delicate earrings to sealskin fur coats. In the afternoon, depart for a boat trip in the colonial harbor to explore The Nuuk Fjord (Nuup Kangerlua), which is the second largest fjord system in Greenland. Along the way, you will experience astonishing fjords with waterfalls, the world´s most aged stones and stunning peaks. Continue sailing to Qooqqurt Nuan - Nuup Kangerlua’s most beautiful locations and most popular attractions. You will be dining in one of the worlds most secluded restaurants, catching your own dinner and experience the magical fjord landscapes of Nuuk Fjord. The Qooqqut fjords are renowned for superb fishing and the boat will stop the engine for you, so you can catch and bring the fish to the nearby restaurant to cook. Here at the lovely Qooqqut Nuan restaurant, you will enjoy the dinner you caught yourself and which is prepared by Nuuk´s most respected chefs. This is another beautiful day in Greenland, surrounded by the magical fjord landscapes of Nuuk fjord.

Day 8. Nuuk

You will be picked up by a private driver and transfer to airport Nuuk and depart by flight according to your Itinerary.
